Designed by Warren and Mahoney, the Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital reaches beyond its primary function as a healthcare facility and celebrates the hospitality of the region.
The hospital aims to create an environment where wellness is the foundation of the patient experience. Offering a homely feel for post-surgery recovery, the building connects patients with the community and environment, helping them regain vitality and strength.
The design takes inspiration from the local environment, including the nearby Kawarau River – its rejuvenating waters invoking the healing power of nature.
For this project, we provided Warren and Mahoney with two wallcovering designs that complement the brief perfectly.
Our customised Sediment wallpaper is installed in the reception area, creating the ambience of a hotel lobby, with curved surfaces and warm materials used to help reduce patient anxiety. This design continues along the hospital corridors, a calming journey as we move through the space.
Our River wallpaper features as a backdrop to the recovery beds in the ward rooms, emulating the outside environment.
From its design, location and atmosphere to the level of patient comfort, Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital is a facility that challenges the status quo of a hospital building in every way.
All of our designs can be customised in both colour and/or scale. We enjoy working with our clients and designers on projects that allow our designs to enhance and complement any space. For more information, please get in touch.
