A new era of workplace design.
MC’s new workspace exemplifies the Auckland law firm’s unique, forward-thinking approach to accommodating a growing number of employees and attracting New Zealand’s best legal talent.
Architecture and design practice Jasmax have created an unparalleled workspace, which radically differentiates the firm and exemplifies its forward-thinking approach to attracting talent.
Working with Artisan Collective and Autex Acoustics, we provided a range of nature-inspired wallcoverings for this project.
The brief for the interior design was to create a workspace that expels all preconceived notions of the typical look and feel of a law firm, one that celebrates contemporary Aotearoa (New Zealand) and connects people with the natural environment. The result is a 5,500sqm workspace arranged across two wings – a one-of-a-kind space that houses a living terrarium featuring abundant plants and a radical colour palette.
Biophilic design principles have influenced the materials, detailing and finishes throughout the workspace to reduce stress, enhance well-being, and increase motivation and creativity by using tactile materials, colours, textures, and patterning that responds to the natural world.
Our designs installed throughout the workspace help enhance each space and complement the design brief.
Our LA Colorscape mural creates calm in the meditation room, Dune features in the wellness room Nebula in parents room, Tussock within the office and Petals Pressed in the bathrooms.
We also partnered with Autex Acoustics to create custom acoustic panels featuring our Songbird design, allowing for a comfortable auditory experience in the MC meeting rooms. This project inspired our recently released Autex Acoustics x Emma Hayes collaboration.
Cementing its bold and holistic commitment to staff well-being, MC has become the first law firm in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve WELL pre-certification. The International WELL Building Institute is the premier framework for advancing health and well-being in the workplace. Furthermore, the MC centre building has also been awarded six Green Stars by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC).
